Qualifications

  • BA with an emphasis in Business and Communications, Western Kentucky University

“Wealth That Matters® to me is being present and available for my sons. I am intentionally present in so many ways, from basketball games and Taekwondo to homework and cooking dinner.”

Dedrick leverages over 10 years of experience in public relations and communications, honed through networking, public speaking, and customer service roles during his tenure as a Financial Advisor, to excel as Vestia’s highly motivated and energetic Marketing Specialist. Dedrick owned a marketing business providing business development, podcasting, and social media marketing expertise to numerous businesses in Owensboro, Kentucky, before relocating with his family to Nashville, Tennessee. When asked what he loves most about his current role at Vestia, Dedrick says, “I love the team environment and transparent leadership. Finance and marketing are both passions of mine, so being able to blend them together in this role is a dream come true!”

What Dedrick loves most about marketing is that he gets to help others while seeing his own success through theirs. His impact cascades – if marketing efforts are successful, then Vestia’s advisory teams are successful, meaning more physicians are able to define and live their Wealth that Matters®.

Originally from Owensboro Kentucky, Dedrick holds a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Business and Communications from Western Kentucky University. He moved to the Nashville area in 2020 in support of his wife’s progressing career in healthcare administration. Outside of the office, you will likely find Dedrick at one of his kid’s sporting events or at Costco on a Friday date night with his wife.

Share an interesting story about your family.

My wife and I both were born and raised in a small town in Kentucky and lived there for most of our lives before deciding to move. Small towns have a sense of safety that also comes with a lack of opportunity. Because we wanted to broaden the horizons for our kids, Jenny and I made the decision to leave our Old Kentucky Home and start a new life in Tennessee.

What are you known for among your friends?

My friends know me as a truth teller. If any of my friends want advice, they know that if they come to me that I am going to be 100% honest.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Outside of the office I will most likely be doing something with my family. Whether it be a “scavenger hunt” shopping trip with my wife (we take date nights to Costco on Fridays) or a basketball game or Taekwondo tournament with my boys.

One of Vestia’s values is to model Wealth that Matters®. What does this mean to you?

Wealth That Matters® to me is being present and available for my sons. I was raised by my grandmother who worked two jobs to pay the bills and keep food in the fridge, so I spent a large part of my childhood without supervision and with little support. Being a father now, I never want my kids to know what it is like to not have support from their parents, so I am intentionally present in so many ways, from basketball games and Taekwondo tournaments to helping with homework and cooking dinner. And truthfully my Wealth That Matters® goes even further than that – while I appreciate being able to do those things for my sons, I find myself being intentionally present at work as well. I give my all wherever I am!
