“Through life, being rich takes many forms. Being rich in health, being rich in love, being rich in family, being rich in wisdom, being rich in peace of mind, being rich in community, being rich in time…those are the things that truly enrich our lives and the lives of those around us.”
Katie’s natural inclination for problem-solving and innate desire to help people led her to college as a nursing major, but she quickly pivoted to accounting when she realized she passed out at the sight of blood! Financial planning allows Katie to do the very thing her heart has always desired: building meaningful relationships with people. While money can be a blessing, it can feel like a burden to doctors who don’t have the time to manage it effectively. Katie is thankful for trusted physicians who help her understand all the ins and outs of huge medical procedures, and she strives to be that resource for doctors to understand and confidently implement a robust financial strategy. If her clients can be more present in their family, careers, and communities because of her work, she knows she has accomplished her goal!
Katie has been in the financial industry for over a decade. She spent time early in her career as a Physician Practice Analyst at Southeast Missouri Hospital before starting with a local bank where she worked her way from teller to a Wealth Planner in the bank’s wealth management division. Katie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Southeast Missouri State University, her Series 63 & 65 registrations, and her Life & Health Insurance license. Katie obtained the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2020.
Outside the office, Katie is typically spending time with family. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Tyler, and they have three children: Cooper, Brynlie, and Rhett. Whether they are serving together, watching their oldest compete in rodeo, crafting all day with their middle, or literally chasing their rambunctious youngest around, family means everything to Katie. She lives on her family farm and enjoys evenings of fishing, feeding the horses, goats or cows, going for walks around the farm or just taking in the beauty of nature. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, home is her favorite place to be!

Share an interesting story about your family.
I grew up (and still am) a PK (Pastor’s Kid). While most of my life felt like I was under the microscope, good or bad, I’ve been able to meet a lot of really amazing people! My mom worked outside of the home and my dad trained horses on the side. My parents demonstrated to me that love isn’t limited by boundaries or titles – genuine care, concern and, availability is what makes an impact. Our actions speak louder than words, and our actions shouldn’t change whether we are in church on Sunday or anywhere else we go throughout the rest of the week.
Where have you worked? What is the best thing that has ever happened while you were working?
I’ve worked the majority of my career at a bank. Starting as a teller, to cash management services for business clients, to business development (a brief hiatus to a local hospital as a Physician Practice Accountant) to ultimately landing the last decade of my career as a Financial Advisor for the bank’s investment program, I truly gained humility and realized that all people deserved respect. Seeing the balances, hardships, struggles, and stressors in financial lives made me realize that money is just a number and hardships exist for many different people. The people behind the money have faces and stories. By sharing a smile and meeting them where they are, I’ve made amazing relationships and given help that truly mattered. Those that looked like they had it all together sometimes did not, and those that seemed to have nothing at all sometimes had more than the world realized. They didn’t have to invite me into their lives, but I was honored they made that choice. I was able to respectfully meet each person where they were and find a solution to help them – knowing they left me in a better spot than they came was my true reward.
When did you first realize you were interested in finance?
I took an accounting course in high school and loved it! Jackson High School was blessed with an amazing department of business teachers, and they gave excellent support and encouragement in pursuing finance careers. I also got a glimpse of the finance world through FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) because it gave us as students the opportunity to lead. My junior year, our club president was also the one who is leading us today at Vestia – Lauren!
What is the most important thing you have learned about helping other people?
When I sincerely help others, even though I may be the one giving, I’m also typically the one that is receiving in those moments. I feel a common thread intertwines us, and selflessly serving others helps make that thread shine.
What are you known for among your friends?
Listener, Honest Advice Giver, and Encourager
One of Vestia’s values is to model “wealth that matters.” What does this mean to you?
Modeling “Wealth that Matters” likely means something different to every person that reads it, but to me, that is what is so significant. That the concept of wealth likely changes, is different through our lifetime, and it isn’t the same for every person. Google’s definition of wealth states it is “an abundance of valuable possessions or money”, “plentiful supplies of a particular resource”, “the state of being rich…” While wealth most certainly can be of possessions or money, “the state of being rich” is what sticks out to me. Through life, being rich takes many forms. Being rich in health, being rich in love, being rich in family, being rich in wisdom, being rich in peace of mind, being rich in community, being rich in time…those are the things that truly enrich our lives and the lives of those around us. I’m thankful that Vestia not only values it’s team members modeling “wealth that matters,” but also puts it into action to enrich the lives of our clients as we partner with them over their lifetime.
